I have been thinking about playing quake 3 arena. I haven't played in such a long time. I purchased quake 2 like 6 months ago through steam.
quake 2 has to be my all time favorite out of the quake series. that and the custom movies made for quake 2 were awsome.
Yea , Quake 2 is the best of the quakes in my opinion. I too have been looking for quake 2 servers to play on.

Yeah I still play, I really like Quake II. When I am not playing locally with my friends and family I usually use the XFire server tool to find Quake II servers. There are still lots of them out there!

Henry Sellers was a top player, also some german guys... one called KennY from old BlackCats clan, Far*Q aka Q. then you had the US part of DooM, man eXg were the **** back then!
Best player I new on that game was Jh aka JonnyH. MannNNN he was aweeesomee player... he would come to UK/EU servers with that high ass ping, an woop ass!... man you shuld of seen it when you went onto a US server, an he was on!!! top player.
Ping? Doom is a LAN and Local connection game. Also there's 4 people that can play at once.Damn i love ID...

I play it often, but over a private lan, wi my mates, just for fun evry now and then.
You can't beat the single player tbh, and i think there is a bot mod out there somewhere....

I've been playing Quake 2 like nearly every Christmas since 1997 with my two older brothers. I was 12 at that time. My family only had one computer but I would watch and get to play every once in a while. Eventually we all got computers and we LAN partied once a year ever since. Starcraft usually follows soon after. We used to play Weapons Factory but now we just settle for Capture the Chicken mod and a little DM.I play it often, but over a private lan, wi my mates, just for fun evry now and then.

So yeah, I don't do much online gaming with Quake 2, but every year it's either #1 or #2 on our list. In the past I've looked at GameSpy Arcade and saw there was a good 200-400 people playing Quake 2 constantly. I haven't checked recently though.
Quake 2 is one of my favorite games of all time!
