Generally I would reccomend you stick to the mouse, due to it's much higher stability in accurate shooting...but if you truly want a gamepad, use A Logitech Dual Action. It's definitely difficult to control, but high quality and very fluent.

Controllers are slower and less accurate. I'd rather center the mouse than die constantly.
though keyboards work alot better. the only reason you should get a gamepad is if you have a laptop, because finger mouses SUCK in games
