First, I’d like to say that reinstalling BF2 and adding the latest patch can fix some issues with the game. Latest patch: 1.41
Another note: It's not completely done, (Don't think it ever will be because new problems and questions pop up all the time.) but please consult before asking. Thank you.

Q: Where can I check my stats online?
A: http://www.bf2s.com
http://www.bf2player.com
http://www.formitron.com
http://www.bf2tracker.com
Q: The game says I’m a private but I’m really a <yourrankhere>! Are my stats gone?
A: No, they’re not. It’s just a bug with the stats system. You will still earn your points you won from that round.
*NEW* Undetermined. People have reported getting their points, and others not getting their points.
Q: I disconnected from the server halfway through. Do my points register still?
A: Yes, they do.
Q: How do I “roll” and “dive”?
A: This is just the animation that occurs whenever you go prone while moving in a certain direction. Everyone around you can see it, but you won’t.
Q: How do I add clan tags to my name?
A: In the login menu where it says Prefix, type it in there.
Q: I can’t type certain characters into the Prefix box. How do I do this?
A: My Computer > Your Documents > Battlefield 2 > Click "Profiles"
Open the Global.CON with notepad. Edit the line that says GlobalSettings.setNamePrefix You can edit it to look like this:
GlobalSettings.setNamePrefix {LOL}, -LOL- LOL|, etc.
Q: I am new with mods. I installed <modnamehere> and I don’t know how to play it. What do I do?
A: •Start up BF2
•Log in
•Click the community button up top, and then click custom games
•[A list of expansion packs/Mods should show up] Select the mod you want to run and click the Activate button that shows up in the bottom right area of the screen.
•A message should pop up asking you that BF2 must be restarted in order for you to play the mod, just click yes and then when BF2 starts the mod should be running.
Q: When/How can I unlock new weapons?
A: Once you get promoted to Lance Corporal you can start unlocking weapons. If you have Special Forces then you'll get 2 unlocks per promotion instead of 1. Installing SF, then completing 1 round, gets you a certain number of free unlocks, depending on your rank. There's 2 for each kit. To unlock the SF unlocks you need to get the original unlocks. For instance: I can't unlock the MP7 for the engineer until I unlock the MK3A1.
Q: Every time I try to connect to some servers I always get a message telling me to check my connection(s) then try again How do I check my connections and what do I need to fix about them?
A: -Try re-booting your modem - unplug it for 30 seconds then plug it back in (also gives you a new IP)
-Check firewalls are turned off
-If both of them fail do a virus/spyware scan of your computer.
Q: Does Xfire detect Special Forces?
A: No. Xfire tracks what you are playing and how long by the games .exe file. For BF2 it is Bf2.exe, SF uses the same one, therefore, tracks it all as Battlefield 2. However, go to http://www.xfireplus.com/ Xfire Plus detects SF.
Q: I die as a <kitname> and revive as a <kitname>. What’s up with that?
A: When you die, you drop your kit so that other people can drop there's and pick it up. If someone else swaps their kit with yours when you die, and then you get revived, you'll pick up their old kit.
Q: How do I use Battlerecorder?
A: BattleRecorder is a built-in program in BF2.
First, while in a singleplayer game, (or in an internet game YOU are hosting, as it will not work if you're a client and not host)
press the ` key which is above your TAB key.
type in "demo.recorddemo [insert name of your demo here]" (Without the quotes) and do your thing.
Once finished recording, type in "demo.stoprecording" (Without the quotes).
After you are finished that, exit the game and open up the following windows.
C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield2\mods\bf2\Demos
And
C:\Documents and Settings\[your registered name here]\My Documents\Battlefield2\profiles\Default\demos
Now. Copy both of the files containing the file name of what you gave it when you recorded it. And paste it into the other window.
Exit out of the windows and start up BF2.
Go to the community tab, then the battlerecorder tab, then you should see your video on the right hand side. Doubleclick on it and watch your video.
You can use your commo rose to change the playback speeds and change who you're watching.
Q: I heard some of these terms used in BF2 but what do they mean?
A:
-Bunny hopping: Jumping to avoid fire and such.
-Dolphin diving: Jumping and then going prone in mid air.
-Cartillery: Dropping cars on enemy infantry, vehicles, assets, etc.
-Wingtipping: Flying extremely low in an aircraft and hitting enemy ground troops. Hitting enemy choppers etc. with the jet wing.
-Kamikaze: Basically just flying your air vehicle into an enemy.
-C4 Jihad: Throwing C4 on a transport vehicle and blowing it up on enemies.
-Stat padding/Point farming: Using some sort of lame, no talent method in order to increase your stats and such. EA will reset your stats if you’re caught and reported.
Ex) Get 2 others together along with yourself. One person is on team A while the other 2 are on team B. The player on team A will kill one player on team B, and then the other player on team B will revive their teammate. They’ll keep doing this for kills and revival points and rack up huge scores.
Ex) Idling in vehicles for time so you can get certain awards.
High Points: Small servers (ex. 16 players) running bigger map sizes (ex. 64). The amount of tickets increases in each map size, so therefore rounds last longer, allowing you to achieve, well, “high points”.
Q: What is BF2 ROE?
A: The BF2 ROE is a set of rules made by EA that they want all ranked servers to follow.
http://www.bfroe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=171
Q: Is the ATI radeon 9200 supported?
A: The ATI radeon 9200 (AGP) is not supported but you can still get it to run. You need to go to the control center and change AGP speed to 4x instead of 8x (under the SMARTGART settings).
Q. I click on the BF2 Icon and my screen goes black, then back to Desktop. What's happening?
A. Your system specifications do not meet the requirements to play Battlefield 2.
Check the Minimum requirements on the back of the Game case to see what is restricting you from playing, alternatively check SystemRequirementsLab.
http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest
Q: Is there anyway to change your name apart from making a new account?
A: No. You must make a new account or you'll be stuck with your name.
Q: How do I skip the intros when I start up the game?
A: Go to C:/EA GAMES/Battlefield 2/mods/bf2(Or, for SF's intros, go into 'xpack' instead/movies
Now, right mouse beside the files and create a new folder. Let's just call it 'backup' for simplicity's sake. Next, just move the intro files into the new folder, and they will not play after starting up Battlefield 2.
Q: How do I unlock EF weapons?
A: You can't. Weapons from the EU army can only be used in the Euro Force booster pack. They cannot be unlocked.
Q. I have Windows Vista and Battlefield 2 won't work, what's going on?
With Vista, Admin security is turned on by default. Anyone with Vista will know that if you try to change, or move a file, you get a window pop up saying that you will need Admin permission. It's really simple to do:
Control Panel > User Accounts > Turn User Account Control On or Off
Set it to off. You'll get a securirty warning pop-up everytime you load your PC, but it doesn't pose as a security threat. Not only will you now be able to play games that have Punk Buster on, this also stops the "Needs Admin permission" windows keep popping up.
Alternatively, if you don't want to do this, when you go to start BF2, right click on the shortcut, and click "Run as Administrator". I don't really recommend this way, because if you forget to do this, you'll have to close the game and start it up again. And, if you run it as administrator, Xfire doesn't detect that you're playing it.
