MUST Read Before Creating a Thread in New Game Ideas.

    Hello!

You are all here because you want to help XFire out and get your game supported! There are a kajillion games out there and it is a rather daunting task to keep up with new releases as well as try to pick out oldies and obscure games. We all have our preferences on what games we enjoy and everyone has an opinion.

Some better ways to help Game Support is:

    1. When trying to pitch a game you want support, include as much pertinent information as possible. Web address, the year the game was release, new patches/versions that you know of, et cetera.

    2. Before creating a new thread, please do a search on your game. It would be most beneficial to have one thread per game. Multiple threads per game will be locked.

    3. Thread subject should contain the name of the game you would like supported. Please make one thread per game, and do not make a thread with multiple games.

    4. Please do not continually bump the game just to increase your post count or get over a certain amount of pages for a game. Please PLEASE stop double posting "bump" or creating "quote pyramids". All this does is waste time. If this awesome game is truly awesome, then get others who play the game to make a post. Remember, not only is Game Support beneficial to XFire and its users, but it also helps spread the word about how great the game is and will create a larger community for that game .

    5. See #4

    6. Please let Xfire know where we can purchase/obtain the game. Feel free to give us feedback on which sites work the best, or which online stores have the best service.

    7. Do NOT be rude. Xfire is a free program. You pay nothing to for this great tool! Being rude and DEMANDING towards those at Xfire will not be tolerated. I certainly do NOT appreciate pm's, posts or xfire messages that are negative.

    8. Xfire is located in North America. We heed to games' release dates in North America.

    9. You can now request webgame support as of June 15th, 2009. Requests should be treated as a regular game, with users providing as much information as possible. Posting icons is also very helpful for webgame support. For more information, you can go here:

    10. Please be patient.

If you have any suggestions or comments in regards to this forum section, please make them here.

    Thank you for your time!

Some suggestions for the extra info:
    -Include support code
-Include a few links to online shops that sell your game
-Maybe include a poll to see how many users on the forum actually want to see it supported

A list of online shops that ship to America would be helpful too
Game support success: Half-Life: Blue Shift, Risk II, Emperor: Battle for Dune, The Settlers IV, Paraworld, Capitalism II and The Settlers III.

Definitely telling Xfire where to obtain the game is a +1.

I understand the bump mentality, but it's very difficult to gauge the various threads. The boards will be monitored more carefully now, so the excessive bumps will not be necessary...hopefully !

Xfire does support Return to Castle Wolfenstein...
But this isn't the place to request games...

Exactly how patient must we be? I mean, there's a (sticky) thread here *coughEmuSupportcough* that's well over 2 years old that hasn't been bothered with in the least, as far as i can tell. When exactly will our "patience" on things like that pay off?

I just got on board doing this, and just trying to catch up. The Emulator Support Thread was stickied by Bazman and I'm not sure where it was going. Hopefully it will be revisited soon, when there is time.

Great to see that something is finally done about this bumping BS. You've certainly got my full support for this.

You should perhaps add that people should search for the games they want supported, before starting a new topic themselves.

It's sad that some people actually believe this. I'm pretty sure that games will be added according to how many people support it, not how many times the same person bumps a thread. It's really not that difficult to comprehend, dude. All that bumping does is cloud the facts about how many people actually do support a game. No mod is gonna want to look through 850 bump-posts just to find 3 people who support the game.

That's why polls are a good alternative. It gives quick and easy insight into how many people want the game supported.
Of course, that raises the issue of people that don't care about but just vote because they happened across the thread or of people making a lot of dummy accounts to make multiple votes, but it's better than nothing

Thank you for the suggestion, silentjay. The OP has been updated.

Long threads does not necessarily mean that game will be supported, sometimes it's a bit discouraging looking at the same few people bumping a thread to 50+ pages.

Short, quality threads get as much attention, if not more, as spam threads.

Regarding polls, I like to support the games people play and try not to look at the personal preferences people have on what is "good" or "bad". With all the effort put into game support, I hope that there will be hours put into the games being asked for.

Problem is, that if your game request post isn't on the top page it'll most likely be ignored or lead to more posts about the same game, ie spam. We all know people don't like to use the search function at all.

I know that. And I've b.tched enough about it in other topics. (Wow, that's one heck of a "profanity" filter here, lol.) But see OP, point 2. The winds of change are blowing, and this forum is now properly moderated. So hopefully that'll be the end of that.

    @ b4it
I know I'm probably getting annoying by now, but I think the topic title for this should be "Read this first!", or "Rules for Game Support", or something. "Supporting Game Support" is kind of a confusing, nonsensical title, and I doubt that too many people will take notice.

It's good that now there is a dedicated Xfire member keeping this place in order giving clear and rational rules to follow. For these past few weeks you have been doing a good job as far as I have seen, b4it. The forums could use people like you elsewhere also that give out the rules for the area and enforce them.

Now it seems that this forum area has once again gained a reason for its existence. Some time ago it seemed like to be a dumpster for out-of-date spam.

I just hope the people here would stop doing useless post bumps but abide by the new winds and make this forum area support better both the community and Xfire.

    Keep up the good work!

I think old games should be supported as well. But only if there's a few supporters, obviously. In other words - same rules for old and new.
