Video capture problems, Encoding not working
Recorded a little video that's about 43 seconds long and 1.4gb in size (unencoded). I've been trying to make xfire encode it for a few hours now, but it's stuck at "encoding".
Date says "0 seconds" and File Size says "Encoding". xfencoder.exe is running, so I suppose that it's suppose to work anyway.
When I started encoding, I got a 19 minute estimate, so I rebooted after waiting for a bit more than an hour. Started the encoding process again, and now nearly 3 hours have passed without any progress.
What might be the problem and what can be done about it? In a worst case scenario, can I encode it with something else and upload to xfire?

The Xfire encoder is a stand-alone program, so you can try using it manually. The file name is xfencoder.exe and is located in the same place where Xfire was installed to, typically C:\Program Files\Xfire.
See if the encoder stops doing anything when you use it manually or if it gives some kind of error message.

Thanks for that info! Still doesnt work tho.
I get nothing in the log except for "[INFO] Browser file 1" and the timer stays at 00:00:00.
Tried renaming the file to something shorter but it didnt really help. Also tried resetting the video directory of xfire to the standard one, but no difference there either.
Edit: Made two other videos. One short and one long, in another game. Same problem with them. Encoder seems to be broken.

Hello jokkocze,
It's possible that you have a corrupted version of the encoder. Try the following steps exactly:
First backup your video files in a separate folder. Even though Xfire should note delete your videos unless you UNinstall it's better to be safe than sorry. Then...
1. (Without uninstalling) Download the full installer from http://www.xfire.com/download/.
2. Install it over your current copy of Xfire.
3. Then go to http://www.xfire.com/files/3405/ to download the most recent game update.
4. Now copy your videos back into your Xfire\Videos folder.
Then try encoding your videos again.
Let us know what happens. If you get stuck, tell us where exactly.
Thanks!

That didnt help at all, still the same problem. However, I checked out ffdshow and noticed that the encoder was listed in the list of files that it should handle. Removed it from there and tried encoding again, and guess what! Works great now and my awesome movie's uploaded (http://www.xfire.com/video/88d53/)
