Here's a link to the download.
It only took me about three minutes to download it, and twenty to play it through to the end. The controls are the traditional WASD, and the gameplay itself is fairly intuitive. Just keep going.
Good luck.

I liked your avatars before they went mainstream and started having color. XDOriginally Posted by 34tmyl337

I hope they make a sequel!
Actually, it's a troll game. You go down about 30 flights of stairs and that's the end of the game. I suspected this when I reached the third staircase, so I just opened up Cheat Engine, sped up the game by 1000% and zoomed down the stairs until I reached the end and the game was over.
Nope. It's interactive horror, based off of this entry on the SCP wiki. They randomly generate what happens as you go down. I got to about the 75th floor before "finishing" the game, but some videos have shown it ending as early as the 50th floor and as late as the 136th floor.Originally Posted by hypnotoadtrance
I found it to be a rather well done use of suspense and tension in gameplay. It's not really a full game, I'll admit, but I enjoyed it, and I think the fact that so much of the fear comes from when things aren't happening is beautiful.

i pussied out. for some reason walking down 30~ sets of stairs was more scary than anything in amnesia and the first time i got chased in that i derped out pretty hard.
I got to floor 25 and knew something was going to happen... nope.
That's alright, the only thing that kept me from backing out and walking away forever out of fear was the fact that I was on Skype with a friend when I did this. Even still, she got to hear me give out a high pitched scream once or twice. A shame I shall never live down, I suppose.
It was also neat, because I was sort of stating what I could see to her as I walked around, and talking about my mental state, all while being urged onward. If you read the article this was based off of, at the bottom it details four expeditions into the stairwell, which worked in essentially that manner - scientist at the top asking the person exploring questions as they descend in terror and beg to be let out.

I will admit, after about 20 floors I was soooo ****in jumpy lol

But he's right. The game itself is simple but the idea it demonstrates is amazing. I'll bet dollars to donuts that this was a game design study for some grad student, considering it's really simple (and also that it uses Unity).
It exemplifies the true source of the fear emotion in the horror genre, in that the scariest thing is nothing at all. In a dark room it's especially prevalent that something might be in that darkness, but you have no idea of what it is or of what it's capable, or if it's even there - in essence your imagination is doing all the work.
And this is scarier than the scariest monster because even when you've seen it and ran from it, it suddenly becomes tangible, physical, ultimately defeatable - and consequently less horrifying. Would anyone argue that the Gatherers in Amnesia were any scarier once you saw one up close?
The thesis here is, the real trick to horror games is letting your imagination do the heavy lifting. You can have monsters jumping out at you from inside closets, but that's really where the horror ends.
I did too. This won't last, the Santa hat was just getting smelly.Originally Posted by ALL GLORY
Damn you and your extremely reasonable (and delightfully colorful ^_^ ) posts! Now that you've explained it like that, I feel like I've been looking at this the wrong way. I suppose it is quite interesting to see how people react to such stimuli. But it was sold to us as a game. So taking that into account, this is a terrible game. Please. Just let me have something. :<Originally Posted by 34tmyl337

Hypno, I downloaded this game from a link provided in a group chat, before seeing this thread because of the stupid Beta Redirect bug.
