Making a movie detected on Xfire

This suggestion would allow programs like Windows Media, Quicktime, and other movie playing programs to be detected on Xfire so as to make the user show their friends, via Status, that they're watching a movie/video. The main status that comes up on the user's profile could read the title of the video/movie. This would work like you would make a game become detectable, via the Tools > Options tab in the Xfire box that you open.

(The function would not include Youtube videos.)

Due to the fact that they already do this for music, I say why not. The only cons I can think of would be for those who watch adult films and don't want it to be all out there on the internet and maybe not all movies will be recognized. For example Lord of The Rings Fellowship of the Rings may come up as lotrfotr.mp4. Some people may not know what that means which defeats the purpose.

I would also like to amend the whole Tools > Options tab thing. If possible, it should be easy as turning your "Music Status" on/off via status box. (This would take care of the privacy factor) As far as the movie info. That lies entirely in the hands of the person who bought/downloaded the movie file.

But over all it doesn't seem like a too bad of an idea.

[12:33] Trael: Pulse, was going to show you this last night, but as I opened the chat, you logged off D:<
[12:34] Trael: Right now, my status is set to music.
    [12:34] Trael: But
[12:34] Trael: I'm playing a video randomly pulled from my selection
    [12:34] Trael: And it shows
[12:34] Trael: Now doing anothger one
    [12:34] Trael: Its showing
[12:35] Trael: They already have this, you just have to set your status to music.

This. It's already enabled and I already use it as such, occasionally.

honestly, videos are rarely tagged, and video files have completely random names. You might as well bash your head on the keyboard and set that as your status. Also, no one cares what you're watching, a simple "user is currently watching a movie" would suffice.

It's harder to argue for this, as one might be listening to music while gaming but you cannot watch a video while gaming. Additionally, people aren't happy with the selection of supported music players, now we'll have this forum spammed up with everyone whining about their favorite unsupported video player
