    Skyrim crash fix

This guide will help people who have >3gb of memory to reduce the numbers of crashes in skyrim (hopefully with xig also).

    Thanx AU518987077 for the guide:
Simply put you will need to google for CFF Explorer (or get it here)

after installing this software to your system locate the EXE you want to modify and right click and from the context menu select "open with CFF Explorer"

on the left you will see a tree of stuff, locate and select "file header"

on the right you are looking for a box that says "click me" to the left of that you might or migth not see the value [0102] next to it.

now a small window will pop up with a bunch of "flags" with checkboxes and descriptions.
we are only interested in one for the Large Address Aware Flag, and that is "App can handle >2gb address space"
put a check mark there if there is not one.

    click on [ok]

then select the menu items "file" and then "save" or "save as" and overwrite the original file (if you are unsure about all this maybe copy the file in question to your desktop and rename it *.exe to *.exe.old).

congratulations, you are now a computer hacker enjoy your larger Plate of memory!

    \"Just support it\" (C)

    RE: Skyrim temporal crash fix

It appears that this patch does the same thing as listed above:

    http://skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=202

UPDATE: Seems there is a new update for the game:
    http://skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1013

We'll be adding support for this new patch late this week.

looks like the game still pops, keep this thread stikied WG.

    ~edit~

aperently today's patch made it so the exe cannot be modiefied, if you are getting error 51 go write phone email or fax bethesda and convey your dissapointment.

or visit them over at thier PC forums

    ~edit 111128 0658

current discussion shows that it would be advisable to disable the "keep up to date" option under the update properties tab until full disclosure of fixes and new problems are released for the next skyrim patch, this morning the ps3 patch was released starting with Australia and working its way west to now eastern USA, and the general idea is "not a favorable patch".

if this holds same with the xbox 360 patch then i would fear for all of us the same for pc users.

better safe with what we know then that we don't.
What isn\'t remembered never happened. Memory is merely a record. You just need to re-write that record.

Edit: http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=985 havn't tested but will probably be the only option when Bethesda releases the real patch in over a week when the old exe probly won't work anymore.

And considering it's a Steam game, you don't really have a choice to play with an older version. [grumbles] I guess this isn't the first time that a company has botched a patch before...

Another Update: Bethesda have officially added LAA (Large Address Aware) to Skyrim via ninja-patch 1.3.10.

Link to PC Gamer article about it:
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim patch adds support for extra RAM

    Patch specifically includes:

An incremental update, 1.3.10, is now up on Steam that adds the following:

    * Support for 4-Gigabyte Tuning (Large Address Aware)
    * Fixed issue with accented characters not displaying properly at the end of a line

    Re: Skyrim temporal crash fix

Skyrim does not have a patch that is 4GB in size, so I don't know where people are getting "This has support for the 4GB patch" from.

He thinks that the patch is 4GB in size when he failed to read the first post it mentions memory which means RAM not patch size.

It is spelled Xfire and everytime you spell it wrong I kill a kitten or any animal within my range.
