Thread: Battlefield 3 Test Code

    Battlefield 3 Test Code

    OK after a long hard decision process, I've decided to provide the exact working xfire Code for Battlefield 3 that I have used and helped a few other xfire members with as well.

    My approach is this, while some people on the forum have been outright and total jerks towards me, the rest of the people shouldn't have to be subjected to punishment, just for other forum members actions.

    Anyway I've made my point...now on with the code/explanation.

    IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU READ THIS BEFORE TRYING THIS CODE:

    I want to explain that out of all the coding I've ever done for xfire games, this is the very first time I've ever run into this specific situation and it's an odd one too.

    ONLY PEOPLE WITH DX11 CAN GET THIS TO WORK. THAT MEANS YOU NEED BOTH WINDOWS 7 AND A GPU(GRAPHICS PROCESSING UNIT) THAT CAN SUPPORT DX11. UNLESS YOU HAVE BOTH THE FOLLOWING CODE ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT WORK FOR XFIRE INGAME. THAT BEING SAID, HERE IS THE EXACT DX11 CODE FOR XFIRE INGAME THAT HAS WORKED FOR THE PEOPLE THAT I HELPED.

    THIS CODE ALSO SETS IT SO THE INGAME IS OLD XFIRE BUT REGARDLESS IF IT'S OLD XFIRE OR NOT NO ONE ELSE OUTSIDE OF ME SO FAR HAS FIGURED OUT A WORKING CODE.

    [6894]
    LongName=Battlefield 3
    ShortName=bf3
    LauncherDirKey=HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\71171\Install dir
    LauncherUrl=http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/
    DetectExe=bf3.exe
    Launch=%UA_LAUNCHER_URL% %UA_LAUNCHER_EXTRA_ARGS% %UA_LAUNCHER_NETWORK_ARGS%
    InGameRenderer=D3D11
    InGameFlags=USE_PRESENT|USE_SWAPCHAIN|USE_WINDOWS_INPUT
    RunElevated=1
    Again I want to clarify that the code above has worked for the people that outright have DX11 and if you try to use this without DX11 (Meaning your GPU RQUIRES DX11 SUPPORT and you need to have Windows 7) Otherwise it will not work with xfire ingame.

    THE REASON WHY THIS CODE ONLY WORKS WITH XFIRE IS IS DUE TO THE SPECIFIC DX11 DRIVERS REQUIRED TO RUN Battfield 3. BF3 was made in DX11 and then given DX10 support, not the other way around as it usually is. This information was something I did not know and a friend of mine here on xfire supplied it to me making me aware of that.

    Enjoy!

    Sincearly,

    If you follow everything I said/explained then it would have worked. So that means 1 of 3 things:

    1. You didn't do what I said
    2. You didn't understand anything I wrote about actually needing DX11
    3. All of the above.

    Seriously, I explicitly said FAILURE TO USE THE CODE I POSTED OR FOLLOWING THE VERY DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS I LEFT FOR GETTING IT TO WORK....WILL PREVENT THE CODE FROM WORKING...NOW YOU SAY IT DOESN'T WORK...EVERYONE IS DOING EVERYTHING ELSE EXCEPT WHAT I SAID., EVERYTHING I SAID WAS GOING TO HAPPEN AND WOULD HAPPEN DID, AND YET STILL NO ONE FOLLOWS ANYTHING I SAID, THEN TRIES TO CONTINUE FINDING A FIX THAT IS ALREADY IN THE FORUM.

    This situation is exactly the same as when me and a friend of mine spent 2 hours building a code for xfire ini that actually supported the Steam version for Crisis in DX10 and we had it WORKING PERFECTLY. Which still isn't in the ini but yet it works and was submitted.

    I submitted the code to an xfire Staff member and gave explicit instructions on what to do as well as DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING IN THE CODE BECAUSE IF YOU DO THE CODE WILL NOT WORK.

    And low and behold I got a message back from the staff member saying that they tweeked the code and it didn't work. ARE YOU KIDDING ME.

    This type of situation is one of the main reasons I usually outright refuse to post help in public, and only help people in 1 on 1.

    WTF is wrong with all of you people on the forum where none of you can follow instructions?

    Anyway people want help then they need to start paying attention to what is written and stop with this guessing game about what they think they know. I will never post something that doesn't work. If people want to get things resolved then they need to start listening instead of trying to fix what isn't broken.

    This situation is one of the main reasons I outright refuse to post help in public and help people in 1 on 1. Because the people I help 1 on 1 actually do exactly as I said and their problem gets solved because they want it resolved.

    All of you need to simply accept you cannot follow instructions and stop complaining about me not helping in public then when I do they don't' listen to anything or do what they want then claim what I post doesn't work.

    hmmm ive seen this somewhere before....... anyway i followed EVEYTHING U SAID AND I SUPPORT DX11 buit still doesnt work m8

    That's odd considering I just found you broadcasting it on the xfire live broadcast page and even went into your broadcast and typed to you... In fact I have a video of it.

    You put this code in C:/ProgramData/Xfire/xfire_games.ini

    Works, but yeah, its the old xfire so no overlays, browser, etc.

    If you're new to this it's a little intricate to explain in text because if you aren't familiar with much then you will not understand what someone posts for a description if they don't start from step 1.

    So taking into account that you're really not familiar with this, I'll help you out. I sent you a friend request.

    Greetings,
    Pika
    C:\Programdata\xfire\xfire_games.ini if I'm right for both Vista and Win7, Programdata folder is hidden by default so u need to enable show hidden folders...

    For XP it should be just C:\Program Files\Xfire\xfire_games.ini but considering you're trying to play BF 3 with Xfire Ingame you obviously don't use XP :P

    Sorry what I meant was that I'm new to configuring Xfire. I have no problem with finding folder locations or editing files. I just need to make sure that I'm editing the proper one. Thanks!

    P.S
    I got your friend request but it didn't let me accept it for some reason. I'll try again on my PC once I get home.

    EDIT: Found the location of the config file and made the change. Thanks!

    and to all the other that can't get it going, let me say this...

    Get a better computer that can actually RUN win7 AND BF3 AND DX11
    and stop crying that in game doesnt work, he's right this game was built on total DX11 then given DX10 Support not the other way around
    so till you do your all out of luck

    thanks again takinforaride (Y)

    EDIT , Control panel > Folder options > Allow hidden files to be seen > open C:\ > OPEN PROGRAMDATA !!!! NOT FOLDERS !!!! > Xfire > xfire_games.ini
