Okay, Custom Edition is installed and everything? Good. That's step 1. You know a lot of people can't even do that right.
Now open the Xfire client! You know what I'm talking about. And near the top, just below and to the left of the ad, where it says "Tools"? Click that. See if your name comes up.
Now click "Options" under that menu. This big scary window with ten - count 'em - ten tabs will pop up. You want the one with the word "Games" on it. So click that.
And under the "Games" tab, there's this not-very-long list of games you've installed, and then another one with all the games you HAVEN'T installed! Oh man, that's a lot of games. But that's the list where you're going to have to find Halo Custom Edition!
The list is arranged alphabetically, so we're counting on you to know your ABCs! Can you find it for us? It's right under the letter H! Just below Halo 2 and above Halo Trial!
Now once you do - listen real careful-like - click it, and on the right, where it says "Automatically Detect"? Change that to "Manual Detect".
And here's where **** gets real! You have to click "Browse", and find the folder that Halo Custom Edition is installed in, and click on the main .exe file that starts up your game. Do that!
It's so confusing, isn't it?!? D:
But don't worry, Frost has your back. The path will PROBABLY look something like this: "C:/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Halo Custom Edition" and the .exe will be in that folder. I think. Let's hope!
Now once you find it, click OK. And just to be safe, restart Xfire. Hey presto, it should now work!
Did you get all that?
