Thread: More frequent updates?

    More frequent updates?

Yes I do miss the old Xfire team mostly because they were a lot more frequent on program and game updates. I do believe you guys could do just as well if you worked hard enough at it because many people can get upset about the whole "1 game update per week" thing. Back then games were supported right on the day of release or at least a day later and I know you all have done the same sometimes, but not always.

There's also the issue with the program updates which are quite rare now. Updates used to occur about every couple weeks or so, but now it's like every few months. The updates you have been releasing were apparently simple bug fixes and no big updates to the program features whatsoever. I just really wanted to get my thoughts out about this and I'm sure everyone would really appreciate better work from all of you. Thanks for listening.

    Hi doomlancelot,

To keep it brief: It's not the case of working harder -- It's the lack of manpower and resources. We have plans to change that in the future, so hold tight~

It's been months and game support updates are especially still slow while other programs support them on release day. Come on, now!

    RE: More frequent updates?

There have been no high-profile game releases since November...

    RE: More frequent updates?

Why does it have to be a high-profile game?

First, you tell us that you lack manpower and resources. Now you're making it sound like you'll only support a game sooner if it's "high-profile". Either you're being too slow at getting the manpower and resources or you all are just lazy. Have you even seen the amount of users online everyday compared to the amount of users registered? Xfire will probably die over time because of such slow updating. I've even seen plenty of people say they're leaving Xfire for another program because of it. I mean, why go buying Xfire if you don't have enough people to work on it? I really have been trying to be patient since Xfire was taken over, but this is getting ridiculous. You guys are doing a much worse job than the previous owners I'd have to say. I suggest you step things up very soon.

Not to mention the overlay ain't appear to be working at all.
Good job, keep it up, make this helpful (back in the day) program die even faster..

i'm off to a better / more caring program.

    RE: More frequent updates?

just got this message in another thread from a xfgm:

"Maybe because nobody in the XFGM owns the game. I may get the game some day in the future but now I neither have the time nor the money. Also, don't expect us to support any game you throw at us - it's sadly not that simple... "

WTF i thought xfire adds every game if it´s possible and not "high-profil games" or games they own ???

    EDIT: now i got that:
"I'm just a regular gamer just like you, not part of the Xfire staff. "

now im confused xD that sounds like only xfgm-users doing updates but they don´t belong to the xfire staff??? WTF

We add all kinds of games, but when our list of games is small with no high-profile titles, we don't find it high priority to push a game update *until* we can bundle more with it.

If we started doing weekly pushes with just 1 game (my little pony, for instance), people will still complain. So either way, we can't make everyone happy. We're trying though.

You have to understand that our Game Support Team are volunteers, not Xfire employees. They do an awesome job of supporting new games every month, but not all of them can buy every game that is released. We try to fill that void by recruiting more volunteers; so if you're interested in getting your favorite games supported, join the Game Support team.

There are plans to improve game support whereby the whole community can join in with game definitions and testing. This will improve overall game support, efficiently and in a timely fashion. More on that soon.
