Xfire in-game won't work for any games

I'm trying to record a video, and none of the Xfire in-game features are working for any of my games. It's detecting that I'm playing them, but won't let me use the features like recording.
EDIT: I think I may have figured it out. I believe it is because I am running Windows 7. Is this correct?

RE: Xfire in-game won't work for any games

    Hi guys,

Xfire works fine in Windows 7. I don't know why a lot of people are saying it doesn't.

If Xfire In-Game works in other games, you should try changing Xfire's renderer support to match the game's renderer. This is typically for DX10/11 games.

In the Xfire client, go to Tools -> Options -> Games.
Select the game you're having trouble with, and change the renderer to match the renderer your game uses.

If you are unable to change the renderer in Xfire, you will have to change your game's renderer to match that of Xfire's.
This should only be a temporary fix. We encourage you to request support for your game's renderer here.

If Xfire In-Game does not work in any of your games, make sure the game is detected.

If your game is detected, and you can see it in your Status when you launch it -- but In-Game still does not work, double check your key bindings.
Tools -> Options -> Xfire In-Game. It is in best practice to use a 2-key combination.

If In-Game is still not wkring, check to see if you have the following installed and running, and disable or uninstall them:

    • eVGA Precision
    • MSI Afterburner
    • Catalyst Control Center (for ATI video cards)
    • Fraps
    • Steam
    • Any overclocking utilities that have overlays in your games

Probably MSI Afterburner then. BTW, the FAQ says in-game doesn't work in Win 7, might wanna' fix that.

RE: Xfire in-game won't work for any games

Hey I recently made a post and then I checked out this forum post. I've since deleted Fraps, and a few other things but it still will not work in game.

There's something called ATI Catalyst Install Manager, but it will not let me remove it, and it appears that nothings active in that anyway.

Is there any other overclocking programs that I may be missing in order to run Xfire?

It's world of warcraft im trying to capture and stream, and it detects wow, but the In-Game renderer says D3D9, but doesnt give me the option to change that. Could this be my problem?

I have discovered that if you are trying to video record or try to talk in game with Xfire on WoW and other games, by configuring the game to use DX11 (DirectX 11), Xfire would not work except if you change the game to work on DirectX 9. It works just fine.

Probably the developers of Xfire should be made aware that the next version should support In-Game Xfire video recording/chat etc for DirectX11 compatability

We have not added support for WoW DX11 because tests have resulted in game crashes. It may be because WoW uses an experimental DX11 version which our Toucan does not understand, therefore crashing while trying to hook.

I can confirm that this is also the case with Total War Shogun 2. The new TWS2 patch just released (May 9th) enabled DirectX 10 and 11. The interface only works with DirectX 9. Are you guys working to support DX10&11 on Shogun 2? I miss my fps overlay. :P

We can look into this. But if they use experimental DX versions like WoW, then sadly we can't support it.

Edit: It seems our team is already working on this one.

yeh well seems xfire is set to use dx9 for cod4 yet i cant take a screen shot either its not windows 7 as it has taken screenies prior to overclocking my GPU if i have to uninstall MSI Afterburner just to use your screen shot tool i say fail and no way cya mwate Xfire is obsolete and will be replaced soon enough by better programs that have far less glitches i know someone has plans to make one already...
    1. get your act together OR
    2. lose the people that use xfire

your choice but i`d prefer you get your act together
