Xfire won't record in video games

Hi all, so I am trying to record in the game Gothic 3 which says it can take screenshots and record videos. When I try scroll lock+V it doesn't show that it is recording on the top and it says nothing has recorded when I exit the game. I tried recording on a couple other games of mine that are supported and they do the same thing, any ideas?

In the client, go to Tools > Options > Video and see if "Enable Video Capture" is checked.

RE: Xfire won't record in video games

This is clearly a big issue... I am having the same.. Out of the games which I have that Xfire states that it supports for screen/vid capture only MW2 actually works... the rest like F1 2010, Dirt 2, PKR Poker, Railworks and a few other don't work with it at all...

Sad to see that done of the Dev teams have come up with a solution to what is an extremely big problem... it's clear to me that myself and all the others who are experiencing this issue have completely different rigs and setup, OS and other software, network and router setups, so the only thing I can think of is the Xfire client software is some how flawed.... they need to get this sorted out asap... or people will leave and close their accounts and find something much more user friendly with much better support...

    Rant over..

    Hey, sorry for the inconvenience...

Check the In-game render, Xfire client>tools>options>games>game name Change to your render to whatever is availabile in-game...

For fun, change the place the videos are saved to, to your desktop...

    Please answer these questions:

    1. Are you able to launch your game via Xfire's Launch menu? (Right click on the Xfire icon in the task bar, hover over Launch, and click your game)

-If you answered No to #1: Please detect your game by going to Tools -> Options -> Games. Find your game (possibly in the Not Installed list) and set detection type to Manual Detection and Browse for the game. Then repeat step above.

    2. If you answered Yes to #1: Minimize it and look at your Status bar on Xfire, does it show that you're playing your game?

-If you answered No to #2: Please see #1.

    3. If you answered Yes to #2: Are you able to use Xfire In-Game? Scroll Lock + X (by default) should bring up Xfire's interface.

-If you answered No to #3: Please see #1.

    4. If you answered Yes to #3: When you press your Video recording hotkey (Scroll Lock + V), what happens?

-If nothing happens, please see #1 and also let us know.

    -If your video records. Success!

Note: Please check to make sure your hotkeys are what you think they are by going to Tools -> Options -> Xfire In-Game.
If you feed the trolls, you'll be taken for a ride.

RE: Xfire won't record in video games

In order for me have it work on my battlefield bad company 2, i had to do the following:

Sometimes your computers graphics card comes equiped with direct x 10 or even 11... in battlefields case, I was only able to get it to work when i forced the game to use direct 9.

You can check it by opening the file "settings.ini" in
    Example:

    C:\Users\Douken\Documents\BFBC2\settings.ini

There's a line there that says

    DxVersion=auto

Auto = It uses the latest DirectX version supported by your video card.
9 = It forces the game to use DirectX 9
10 = It forces the game to use DirectX 10
11 = It forces the game to use DirectX 11

Note: As of today Nvidia does not support DirectX 11. That will come in the GT300 series. If you have an ATi HD 5000 series video card then you will use DirectX 11 by default and can force the game to use DirectX 11 or whichever you want.

I hope this helps, sure did for me.

RE: Xfire won't record in video games

Having the same problem, the video capture wont start; I checked settings, keybinds & started as admin then launched the game (WOW) via X-fire.

I have used this feature before to record Aion, however it appears to be broken at present.

RE: Xfire won't record in video games

Just wanted to keep this thread alive and point out that this feature does work with RIFT however not with World Of Warcraft.
This seems strange as WOW should be the most supported due to its popularity, I also think this feature used to work as intended but has become broken at some point.

Has anyone heard Why or if theres any plans to fix it?

I have the same problem with the recorded playback, I enabled sound and records that no problem at all but no video, I have tried Homeworld 2, UT3, and Just Cause 2 but all have the same problem. I can launch them from the xfire launch game tab but no difference there I am affraid. I use Windows 7 64 bit, with nvidia GeForce GT 240 video card. I use resolution 1600 x 900. Video is the only problem there, can take screenshots and xfire in game works ok.

I think its odd that we are having these issues when the video event is going on, i have nothing to do all day today and this is not fixed. How am I suppose to win something when the video part of the program is broken. Coincidence?
