How can I make it work Quake 1 on Windows 7?

Try a sourceport, "EasyQuake" comes to mind [just google it]. There are several choices in sourceports.

If you are bent on an experience as close to the original as possible, try "GLQuake"

I play it on WINQUAKE, which is just a regular Quake with an only exception that it's configured to play on windows. I use XP though so I'm not sure about 7.
