Battlefield 2142 wont launch

Ok so iv looked everywhere to find a fix for this problem and it probably isnt the first time of hearing this but i just bought bf2142 today and was thinking ill give it a shot and see if i like this game as much as all the other battlefields but i installed it on 2 of my pc's 1 is XP SP2 (w/o internet acces) and the other a vista 32bit laptop. both pc's are capable of playing the game but both pc's wont even launch the game. both get t.e same error of the renddx9.dll error. iv spent 4 hours looking for a fix and none have worked. (ones iv tried are the cache, widescreen, patch, video.con) is there any other way to get them to work? even if it only works on one machine?

Did you try running the game as admin on Vista? Are the drivers/DX up-to-date?

Yes done both but doesnt matter now since it works fine on my main XP machine
