    Unofficial Feature Request List

Unofficial list of feature requests - this list includes many features that have been suggested before. Please check it before making your own suggestion again. Also, at the bottom is a list of features from this list that have been added to Xfire. I'll attempt to keep this list reasonably up to date.

    Green = Added

-Manually reorder games on profile list

    -Track offline game time

-I like being able to see my friends of friends playing, however, some of them I don't care to see, I want a way to selectively mark someone as "do not show on list" or something, so I can see friends of user1 playing, but only the ones I specifically want to see.

-Also, an extension of above, an option to make it only show friends for the users you want. ie, right click on User1 and mark it "show friends for this user" right click on User2 and mark it "do not show friends for this user" sort of thing.

-A menu based option to change the sounds of xfire to those that you want. You can do this manually by naming .wav files to the same name as those used and overwriting the ones in the sounds directory, but for most users it would be nice to have an options menu to do this.

-Popup alerts for sign-ons and sign-offs, but also ones for "User1 has begun playing such and such game" (additionally an option to click on it and join the game) (and if applicable, an option to disable this per user, ie. I want to see when User1 joins a server or comes online, but not when User2 comes online or joins a server)

-Login with multiple names like Trillian

-Tabbed conversation windows, one window with a tab for each conversation

    -File transfer (enough said)

-Server names "display the name of the server, like when you put your mouse over it" (under recently visited servers have it show the server name)

-irc integration, so when you join a server it will post into irc the information such as "User is playing gamename on servername - serverip"
    mirc command - /away Playing {MODNAME} at {hostname} ({address&#125
    mirc command - /ame is playing {MODNAME} at {hostname} ({address&#125

-Change your font/color, ie. List of default / custom fonts & colors you can choose from to write with

    -Personal avatar for within conversation

-For away status, icons to show what your status is, certain icon for away/busy/playing game, etc.

-Ability to load games with mods, ie. Desert Combat for BF1942 (custom game start lines?)

-Option to launch program or URL on game start (ie. have it set you away on your instant messenger programs like AIM or MSN)

    -Linux support

-Ability to view only certain games, ie. you only want to see people playing the games that you have enabled in the "installed games" section, why show people playing Lineage II if you don't have it?

-Ability to rename people with a custom nickname of YOUR choice (or perhaps something that will show their nickname on mouseover or original name on mouseover and nickname by default)

-Option to search for players by location, age, etc... more detailed player profile searching

-Timestamp option for military OR 12-hour time

-Search for people playing a specific game

-Option to minimize xfire on game launch

-Ability to set unique logon sounds per player so you know who just signed on instead of having to check

    -Join game by ip

-Ability to turn off the system tray icon (taskbar only)

    -Mail notification

-Display kills/deaths in xfire for users

    -Display friends' in game name

-Option to only appear online while playing a game

    -Mass messaging your Friends

-Option for message received sound to only play when receiving the first IM from someone OR only when the window is not currently active

    -Ability to send offline messages

    -Smilies and so on

-Send a user your contact list (like in ICQ) (a sidenote in the meantime, these people will show up as friends on other people's lists, they can just add them when they're online, but the whole list at once is an idea)

    -Browser-based version of xfire

-Option to specify where the popup window appears (to the left instead of right in case of docked xfire)

-Increase number of custom statuses to 10 (from 5) or higher

    -Always on top option

    -Auto-rejoin, auto-redial server (like in All-seeing eye)

    -Remove specific games from profile

-Add favorite servers by DNS, not IP

-Change servers without restarting the game

    -Use custom avatars in miniprofiles

    -Copy/Paste Interface In-Game

-Choose where Xfire downloads files to

-User some system to be able to move/interact with Xfire in-game with a mouse

-Logging of instant messages AND servers that people were on (happened to join a server someone was on and liked it, but forgot to add it to your favorites? check the log for the ip and server info!) (Chat Logging added (enable under the chat tab of Options menu), Server logging taken care of by Recent Servers on the servers tab)

    -Block users feature

-Chat room capabilities, all people in one room can chat

-List organization (sub-buddy lists, aka groups) Organize your friends into groups, perhaps for the game they usually play, or just "friends" and "clan members" or whatever

    -Other person is typing

-Option to password protect a multiple user conversation (assuming multiple user conversation is implemented) (invite only, no need for passwords)

    -Audio communication

-Remember column sizes after resizing instead of changing back to default on restart of xfire

-Add another user to existing conversation

    -Status On The Web

-Ability to add servers either manually or from the recently visited list to a "Favorite Servers" List

    -Start minimized

    -Automatic reconnect on disconnection

-Keep the xfire connect dialog open when pressing login

-Global option to stop popup window from opening when you open a chat window

    -Server list filters

    -Automatic patch downloads

I've cleaned up this list and cleared out all the posts on this thread. If the suggestion was not on the list, I added it above. I've also detailed which features have been added since this list was created last year.

I'm also locking this thread, because what tended to happen was there would be many many suggestions that were buried in the middle pages and never really read, and then duplicated by new posters. If you have more suggestions to make, either add to a specific thread about that feature in this forum, or if it's a new idea, create a new thread to describe it
